Uncluttering Clutter
Wait! Please keep reading — even if that’s you! Every home seems to have that corner that is the unofficial headquarters for magazines, mail, coupons, and things we mean to deal with.
You know the spot. The one that seems to multiply when you’re not looking. The spot that I’ll get to tomorrow, I say. Then tomorrow needs a nap.
Clutter isn’t just about the piles of paper. Clutter sneaks into our minds and hearts with worries and emotional carry-ons — like that suitcase filled with way more than necessary needs inside.
There are worries we pick up that we weren’t meant to carry in the first place. We take on our burdens and others’ burdens far more than we should. And here’s the kicker — God never intended us to be burden-bearers. HE is our burden-bearer!
We know those burdens — like those lingering thoughts that keep us up at night… the “what-ifs,” the “what-now’s,” and the “what-was-I-thinking’s”. But, it’s time to release them. It’s time to clear out the mental and emotional clutter.
It’s time to let God do what only God can do.
Psalm 55:22 says it best: “Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous be shaken.”
Yes, we can tidy up the drawers and file the papers. That part’s on us. But the deep stuff? That’s where divine intervention comes in.
God’s not looking for perfection. He’s looking for surrender. And sometimes that means saying, “Lord, I can’t untie this knot — it’s too tangled. Will You take it from here?”
So today, let’s take a breath. Sort the stack. Clear the corner. Toss the worry.
And trust our God who specializes in order, peace, and second chances. Uncluttering isn’t just about clear counters and shelves. It’s about letting go and letting God unclutter our clutter — spirit — soul — and body!
