Unshakable Faith
We’re living in a mighty shaky world, aren’t we? The ground beneath us shifts with every headline, phone call, or unexpected twist. Just when we think we’ve got our footing, life throws a curveball.
But there’s one way to stand firm when everything around us feels like it’s unraveling — we keep our eyes on Jesus. Not just a Sunday morning glance, but a steady, soul-focused gaze.
That’s what King Jehoshaphat did when he got word that three enemy armies were marching his way. He didn’t run and hide. He didn’t sound the alarm and spiral into panic. Scripture says: “Alarmed, Jehoshaphat RESOLVED to inquire of the Lord…” (2 Chronicles 20:3).
That word — resolved — gets me. He didn’t just think about praying. He made up his mind and did it.
Then he declared, “We don’t know what to do, but our eyes are on You.” That hits home. Ever been there? I sure have. When I’ve done all I could, Googled every option, talked to my wise friends and still— I didn’t know what to do!
Oh, but there’s good news — when I don’t know what to do — I KNOW, without a shadow of a doubt, God knows what to do!
He answered Jehoshaphat — and He answers us: “Do not be afraid or discouraged… For the battle is not yours, but God’s.” (2 Chronicles 20:15).
What if we actually believed that? What if, instead of wringing our hands, we lifted them in praise?
I’ve learned that when I pause and praise, God brings clarity. Sometimes the answer is bold. Sometimes it’s a whisper. But peace always comes when I put the battle back in His hands.
We don’t have to have it all figured out. That decision, that diagnosis, that door that just slammed shut — it doesn’t have to shake us. Psalm 16:8 says, “I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With Him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.”
Today may seem wobbly, but we don’t have to be. Let’s lift our eyes and praise before the breakthrough — and remember — THE BATTLE IS THE LORD’s!
AND — He’s never lost one yet.
