We Win – No Matter What!

We Win – No Matter What!

It’s Super Bowl Sunday, and the stakes are high! The Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles are facing off, led by two outstanding quarterbacks: Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts. But what makes them truly great is their unwavering faith in Jesus.

They each discussed their faith during a news conference last Tuesday. Mahomes spoke boldly about his faith:
“Faith is important to me every single day. It’s not about football. It’s giving glory to God for being able to walk around, to live my life, to have a beautiful family, to be able to have impact on others. I’m going to use that stage, and that platform, win or lose, to give glory back to Him, to hopefully bring others closer to Him.”

Hurts echoed that sentiment:
“I think my faith has always been a part of me, where I’ve always wanted to root myself in that and keep Him in the center of my life and everything that I do. And so, through the highs and the lows, He’s greater than all of them. And that’s something that I can always acknowledge and always lean on and remember.”

It won’t be Mahomes or Hurts winning today’s game on their own. Victory comes through unity with their teammates. And that’s exactly what we need in our homes, our country, and our faith — strength in unity. As Joshua 24:15 reminds us: “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

Now, whether you’re a die-hard fan, just here for the halftime show, or solely invested in the snacks, let’s not lose sight of what really matters. Today’s game will come and go, the celebrations will fade, and in the grand scheme of eternity, this championship won’t hold a candle to the ultimate victory.

The winning team is God’s team of fully devoted followers. I’ve read the Playbook (the Bible), and I’ve checked the final score. God’s team wins. Not by a last-second touchdown, but by a victory that was already secured on the cross. It is the one who will defeat the enemy once and for all….and WINS big time. In fact, we’ve already won!

Psalm 108:13 “With God on our side we will win; He will defeat our enemies.”
