When We Feel Discombobulated

When We Feel Discombobulated

What a word — discombobulated! It sounds exactly like what it feels — off-kilter, out of sorts. We’ve all been there. Some days it feels like the ground beneath us shifted overnight and we’re left stumbling, wondering which way is up.

But here’s the good news: when life spins us around, God offers us a steady place to stand. He reminds us, “Go back to the last time you felt intact and solid, and begin again.”

In other words — hit reset. Start fresh. Don’t let the enemy convince you that being unhinged is permanent. It’s not.

Psalm 46 tells us: “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” Notice the word ever-present. That means He’s not just around on sunny, calm days. He’s with us when the mountains shake, when the waters roar, and when life feels like a downpour without an umbrella. He is our safe haven.

Picture this:! While the world quakes, God’s Word says, “There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God.” Even when chaos surrounds us, His river of peace flows steady. No storm can drain it dry.

So the next time you feel discombobulated, don’t panic. Don’t let fear boss you around. Instead, draw near to God. Whisper a prayer. Hum a hymn. Take a breath and let His presence remind you that you are safe, loved, and held together by His strength.

Joy comes when we realize we don’t have to figure everything out. We just have to draw near to the One who already has.

So let’s smile, even when life feels upside down. Let’s trust, even when the pieces don’t quite fit. Because God isn’t just the refuge from the storm — He’s the solid rock beneath our feet. And no amount of discombobulation can shake that truth.

Feeling discombobulated? God’s river of peace flows steady, even when life feels upside down. He is our refuge and strength!
