White in September?

White in September?

September 8, 2025 Off By Donna Wuerch Noble

I’m still wearing white even though it’s September. Yes, I know the “rule” that white goes back in the closet after Labor Day, but who made that rule anyway? Fashion police? Grandma’s neighbor?

The truth is, these days the only faux pas is not being yourself. White-white may rotate out, but winter white aka ivory, and “wear whatever makes you smile” are in year-round. So, be YOU!

Fall will be here — officially — on September 22nd, but according to the store email in my inbox titled, “Fall in Love with Fall”, it’s already here! And, I plan to make the most of my favorite time of the year!

School is back in session, football season has kicked off. It’s still hot here in Austin, and the leaves haven’t gotten the memo yet.

But change is coming. Soon the sweaters will be pulled out, flip-flops traded for boots, and summer will bow out to make room for fall. I’ll admit it: I’m ready for the change.

Isn’t it incredible how God designed our world? He could have made Earth tilt-free, stuck in one endless season. But instead, He gave us variety: spring blossoms, summer sun, fall colors, winter coziness. Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds us, “There is a time for everything, and everything on earth has its special season.”

And yet, while we may welcome the changing seasons outside, the seasons of life? That’s another story. We grip tightly to what’s familiar, fearful of change. But just as the tilt of the earth has a divine design, so do the tilts and turns in our lives.

Think of it this way: We live in a “Master Planned Life.” Our Creator, the ultimate Designer and Developer, has designed every season — not to harm us, but to grow us.

So maybe instead of dreading change, we could lean in. Enjoy it. Even laugh in it. Because whether we’re in flip-flops or boots, summer or winter, God is in the season — and that’s what makes it beautiful.
