You’re Being Watched. Be Very Careful
A few days ago, my granddaughter, Alexia, said, “Nana, I think Mom has eyes in the back of her head. She knows everything I’m doing.” I had to agree with her because the truth be known, I’m sure her mother uses her spiritual eyes — her intuition, knower, and discerner that keeps a watch out for her family’s protection. Alexia IS being watched.
A few nights ago, I was dropping off something at my children’s home and no one was there. I know their door code so I fearlessly went in, in spite of it being dark AND in spite of Buddy, their 75-pound Australian shepherd ready to take my head off until he heard my voice. I put the lights on and remembered the security cameras they have everywhere and I knew they could see me roaming around. I made sure I didn’t scratch myself or pick my nose! I knew I was being watched.
Satellites, drones, and communication devices can see us when we’re outside. And, I understand that technology like Alexa or Siri can give the government access to monitor our homes. It’s amazing how much we’re under surveillance. We can even be tracked through our phones. There really is no privacy anymore. Have you been to Google maps and seen your home from a satellite? We can even google our name, and photos and info about us pop up. Our lives have become open books to the world. Before long there will be networks that will know where we are at any given time, day or night. We’re being watched.
Most importantly are the little eyes of our children and others watching us. Doesn’t it make sense that because so many eyes are on us that we step it up on living as an example of God-fearing, God-loving, God-serving people on purpose?
Above and beyond all those technological and human eyes on us are God’s watchful eyes on our every move. Being the right people who do the right things before our God trumps all other eyes. Not only are more people watching us than ever before, our omniscient Lord “sees everything under the heavens” (Job 28:24) and “searches all hearts and understands every plan and thought” (1
Doesn’t it make sense that each morning we, routinely, “take a shower” in God’s grace and mercy, cleansing ourselves from anything that is displeasing in His eyes so that when THEY see us, they see us as God’s representatives and lights to the world?
“We’re Christ’s representatives. God uses us to persuade men and women to drop their differences and enter into God’s work of making things right between them. We’re speaking for Christ himself now: Become friends with God; he’s already a friend with you.” 2 Corinthians 5:20
