An All-We-Can-Eat Mindset
Luby’s Cafeteria remains a top pick for me. I get to choose what I want to eat. A couple of weeks ago, I indulged in a Thanksgiving meal in July — turkey, dressing, gravy, cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes, and green beans. I enjoyed half and saved the rest for later. It felt like a holiday feast on a summer day.
We couldn’t help but laugh when a friend shared his story about taking a visiting missionary to Luby’s. Not familiar with the cafeteria concept, the missionary loaded his tray with a variety of dishes, ending up with a $37+ bill! He thought it was an all-you-can-eat buffet.
This reminded me of an old gospel song:
“Jesus has a table spread / Where the saints of God are fed / He invites His chosen people, come and dine / He Who fed the multitude / Turned the water into wine / He invites His chosen people, ‘Come and dine!’”
God’s “table spread” isn’t about petite portions. His storehouse overflows with abundance. So, why settle for a snack when an all-you-can-eat buffet of blessings awaits us?
God offers us unconditional love, amazing grace, and everlasting peace. Yet, many of us settle for “cafeteria” style blessings, picking and choosing small portions. But let’s not limit God’s generosity. He has a Blessing Buffet ready for us to enjoy.
God makes it easy to love Him, draw close to Him, and please Him. The Creator of the universe, who knows every star and the exact number of hairs on our heads, also knows our paths. His favor rests on us as we seek Him wholeheartedly.
He causes things to happen in moments that would take us years. He aligns our paths with those we need to meet, opens doors that surprise us, and closes those that aren’t best for us. His plan encompasses every challenge we face, often bringing the greatest blessings after the toughest tests.
God won’t let any circumstance or person hold us back from His blessings, favor, and purpose. We don’t need to worry because we belong to Him. He turns the darkest times around for good, never wasting our pain but using our struggles for our benefit.
His presence is with us, assuring us that His plans are good. I’m ready to take all I can get at this table spread with countless blessings! How about you?
Love this.
