Being a Grace Receiver AND Giver

Being a Grace Receiver AND Giver

October 13, 2025 Off By Donna Wuerch Noble

I’ve learned that being a grace receiver is the easy part. I mean, who doesn’t love being on the receiving end of God’s mercy? He forgives, restores, and blesses us — often when we least deserve it. But being a grace giver? That’s where the rubber meets the road.

It’s easy to show grace when people are kind, appreciative, and easy to love. But what about the people who cut you off in traffic, interrupt you mid-sentence, or forget to say “thank you”? Those are the moments when grace doesn’t just flow — it’s squeezed out, like the last bit of toothpaste from the tube.

I once prayed, “Lord, I’m amazed by Your grace in my life. Help me to not just receive it but to give it freely.” And wouldn’t you know it — that same day, I had opportunity after opportunity to practice what I prayed. The cashier was rude, the email was curt, and my patience wore thin before noon. But then came the whisper: “Freely you have received, freely give.” (Matthew 10:8)

Grace isn’t about ignoring wrongs; it’s about responding right. It’s offering what we’ve already been given — unearned, undeserved kindness. Grace is what changes the temperature of a room, melts resentment, and restores peace.

If you’ve ever been overwhelmed by God’s grace — that amazing, saving, restoring grace — then you already have a well to draw from. Dip your bucket deep today and pour it out wherever you go: at home, at work, at church, even in the grocery line.

Because here’s the truth — grace givers live lighter. They forgive faster, smile more, and sleep better.

Lord, may we be so amazed by Your grace that it spills over into every encounter we have today.

“And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things, at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” — 2 Corinthians 9:8

Grace received is grace to be given. Let’s live lighter today — forgiving fast, loving freely, and letting God’s grace overflow.
