Connecting the Dots
I have learned to connect the dots on so many levels. God helps me with that. Daily. If I don’t have enough time to work out, rather than stress about it, I chill. No sense making an ado about nothing. Connect the dots of “chilling” on this day. Maybe my body needs a rest day.
Yikes! I have a husband now! That means my morning routine has changed. I don’t have enough time to write two blogs – for tomorrow and the next day! So, I decide to take a “chill-pill” and trust God directs me to just the right words that need to be written.
Remember when we connected the numbers on a page by drawing lines to the next number and soon it unveiled a picture of something? God is doing that for us, but we must let Him do the connecting.
I started working for the Election Board when I lived in Frisco, TX, five years ago. I truly love my involvement in supporting the election process. Where did that desire come from? Maybe it was God starting to connect some dots.
I moved to Austin and sensed that desire again. Psalm 37:4 says “Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.” Delighting in the Lord is my mission. I acknowledge and delight in Him throughout my day. So, if I am delighting in the Lord….it is HE Who is giving me those desires.
Fast forward to November, 2022 when I am an Election Official at McNeil High School Performing Arts Center. Carl Noble catches my eyes and I catch his. He serves for Travis County on one side of the building. I serve for Williamson County on the other side. One small step led to many steps of getting to know each other and what does God do? He connects the dots for us.
The rest of our story is still in the making, BUT God connected the dots so beautifully that we are now husband and wife today. We think, “How did that happen?” My most quoted scripture is this one that explains God’s way of thinking about the “Whys” in our lives. Romans 8:28 “All things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Look at these dot-connectors:
~ Without Judas, the betrayer, there would have never been the death of Jesus on the cross and then be raised from the dead which leads to our salvation.
~ Without the pit and prison, Joseph would have never made it to the palace and receive the highest position of the land to spare His family.
~ Without the lion, the bear and the giant, David would have never become king.
And, what about you? What crisis or setback stretched you? Then, suddenly, you arrived at your present situation that is the one you were hoping for or at least the one that opened the door to the next one?
We don’t have to understand everything about this race we’re running. We should never fight it if we don’t like it. God is connecting the dots for our good. And that last DOT is where it comes altogether! And, how sweet it is!
