Evicting the Worry Wart
I don’t usually invite worry over for coffee. I’m more of a “blue skies ahead, God’s got this” kind of gal. But every now and then, that pesky Worry Wart sneaks in like it owns the place. It doesn’t knock. It doesn’t ask permission. It just plops itself down, right next to my peace, and starts whispering nonsense.
It starts small — an odd ache, a tight budget, a tiny dent on Carl’s car from a boulder I may have misjudged. And suddenly, the Worry Wart pulls out a megaphone: “What if it’s serious? What if it’s expensive? What if you’re falling apart and taking the car with you?”
I know better. Truly, I do. I’ve written blog after blog about trusting God. I’ve stood in faith with my boots laced high and heart lifted. But sometimes, even prayer warriors get ambushed at midnight by a runaway train of anxious thoughts.
That’s when I remember: peace isn’t a product of perfect circumstances. It’s the fruit of a focused mind — stayed on Jesus.
Isaiah 26:3 says, “You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in You, all whose thoughts are fixed on You.”
And Luke 12:25 brings it home: “Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?”
So when the Worry Wart shows up, I head straight to my hiding place — under the shadow of the Almighty (Psalm 91:1). There, God doesn’t scold. He soothes. He lifts the weight, smooths the wrinkles, and says, “Be still and know that I am God.”

Friend, peace isn’t denial. It’s a decision.
Let’s be peace carriers. Wart-evictors. Jesus-trusters. Let’s trade in our anxiety for assurance and let the only One strong enough to hold the world… hold us, too.
Let’s turn our worries to worship of THE ONE Who gives us peace in the midst of the storms!
