From Belize to Mexico — For the Love of God’s People

November 2, 2014 Off By Donna Wuerch

I can’t begin to express the joy I have this morning as I join other friends and family as we fly out on a missions trip to Mexico. This time it’s not about “What’s in it for me?”, but about “making a difference in other people’s lives”.

Of course, I’ve been reliving the times my sweetheart and I spent time each year in Belize where we were able to minister to the precious people and pastors there. Missions was just in Ron’s DNA. His heart was for impacting those beautiful pastors who led, and fed, their people in the remotest villages and locations. I was always amazed that they came by foot, by bus, by any way they could — just to get to the meetings. Their love for God was so much more than what they could get from Him — it was about loving God with all their hearts — because, basically, He was all they had. It certainly altered our consciences from “needing more” to “thankful for what I have”.

I guess this can be TBS — Throw Back Sunday — as I post some photos of those precious times from before, because I expect I’ll be posting about the blessings we’ll receive while we’re in Mexico tomorrow. Oh, yes, I meant it when I said “the blessings we’ll receive” — even though our intentions are to bless the beautiful people of Mexico, undoubtedly, we will be the recipients of blessings by witnessing a people who love with passion because they are so profoundly in love with their Creator. Please keep our group in your thoughts and prayers as we open our hands and hearts to the beautiful people of Mexico.
