I Know Who Holds Tomorrow

I Know Who Holds Tomorrow

March 5, 2024 Off By Donna Wuerch

Today, March 5th, is Primary Election Day here in Texas.  I am up and at ‘em to head to my polling location where I’ll be working from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. tonight.  I am stoked.  I can’t begin to convey how patriotic I feel about being a part of this process.

There will be long lines of voters despite the last two weeks of Early Voting opportunities.  Many people will say to us, “Thank you for volunteering!” And I’ll say, “It is my pleasure to serve for something that I believe in so much!”

On a side note, and my small way of sporting patriotism, every day of early and today’s voting, I have worn red, white, and blue attire and jewelry.  Sounds sappy, but I want the world to know how grateful I am to be an American – where at least I know I am free.  Thanks, Lee Greenwood!

And I’m proud to be an American
Where at least I know I’m free
And I won’t forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me
And I’d gladly stand up next to you
And defend Her still today
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt
I love this land
God Bless the U.S.A.

The truth is no matter the outcome of this primary election in the State of Texas or the other states who have already held their primary elections and those to come, I don’t know what tomorrow holds, but I know WHO holds tomorrow!

This world we live in seems like it is on a downward spiral, but we don’t have to fear or be concerned because, if we listen to the candidates, all things will be fixed – wrapped up, and tied up with a big red or blue bow on it!  They’ll fix the economy; world peace will prevail and we will be assured the world will be a better place in their term of office.

I am grateful that our hopes for tomorrow won’t depend on what a man or woman promises in the political arenas.  Here’s what I do know and here’s what I’m staking my life upon. I believe God’s ways are so much higher than our ways. Up His sovereign sleeves are plans and purposes that will be carried out regardless of who is elected.

If we are people who live by faith, we will keep overcoming because we know that God is in control — no matter “the who” is in the White House or who is elected in our state.  Instead of being in that “I’m-worried-about-what-our-future-holds mode”, how about us looking at a penny and stand by those words engraved on it that say, “In God We Trust”?

Since I am leaving for my polling location before dawning this morning, I won’t see daylight until it comes through the windows of our building.  But I will see my oversized flag pin that I wear with pride.  I have a vivid picture in my mind of what the American flag means to me.  But more than the American flag that waves atop a flag pole and the one I wear, the cross of Jesus Christ is my statue of liberty. In GOD we trust!  Rest assured — our future is secure in Him!
