Our Recommendations

February 11, 2024 Off By Donna Wuerch

While out to Sunday brunch with friends, they thanked me for recommending Quik Trip as their Bank of Texas ATM location. They didn’t know about the ATM though she is a Bank of Texas Private Wealth Advisor here in Austin. They were thankful because there are no Bank of Texas banks here. But now they have a Quik Trip to withdraw cash as needed.

I brightened their day even more when I recommended Quik Trip’s delicious mango tea. I’ll often go out of my way to not only get cash from the ATM but I’ll grab their SUPER-SIZE cup and fill it up with their yummy mango tea!

This little rabbit trail to Quik Trip leads me to today’s blog. For one thing, it is to remind us to care enough about others to recommend things, places, AND ideas that encourages them, motivates them, and makes their life better. If I truly care about others, I’ll recommend my doctor or a particular store, restaurant, church or movie.

Isn’t that what we should do when we recommend to a friend or loved one how to get out of the blues and the funk, and the junk of their lives? If we sincerely care about others, why would we hold back anything that makes life better for them? And for this blog’s sake and the sake of those we care about, it is being advocates, proponents, and ambassadors of passing the faith along.

When we recommend Jesus as the primary solution to life’s challenges, we are giving them the greatest gift we could ever give them. Our dear friend, Leland Rosenlund, the father of my Shawntel’s best friend, Dana, just returned from a three-week trip to Sun Valley, Idaho where his son and family lives AND where he loves snow skiing. He is 81 years old.

When Lee returned home a couple of days ago, he could hardly wait to tell us about his fabulous snow skiing adventures with his family. And, even more so about getting to hang out with his friend of over 42 years. Lee shared: “Over the years I’ve urged him to give his life to the Lord, but little response. This time, he said “YES!”

Lee’s prayers were answered. He showed us a text message from his buddy: “Thanks, Lee, for praying with me. I feel so good that I surrendered my life to Christ!”

We should all recommend Jesus to others as we would a dear and trusted friend. Because of our own experiences, we can recommend Him because we know who He is and what He has done in our lives. We know that He is consistent, loving, totally reliable, never forsakes us and is our dearest friend. The seeds planted from our sincere testimony will grow in the hearts of our hearers.

Our testimony and our recommendation is an act of love for others. Because we love the Lord, we can get excited to recommend Him without hesitance. May we never underestimate the power of our testimony and example.

Revelations 12:11 says “And, they over came him (the enemy) by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony…..”

Aw! Our recommendation. Our testimony! Our example!
