Paying Attention to the Moments

Paying Attention to the Moments

Those who follow me on social media, know “Seizing the Moments” isn’t a new topic for one of my blogs. I’ve used the title or the subject in many blogs because seizing the moments are so important. That’s because I know how important it is to not miss opportunities to help, encourage or give a breath of fresh air to someone……right when they need it.

I just returned home from Tulsa after six days of being an assistant to my beloved sis-in-law. I slept for 10 hours last night. Typically, I do just fine with five to six hours of sleep, with a little nap later in the day. I failed to remember how the loss of sleep and the responsibility of a loved one’s medical care could take its toll on someone. That was back when I was my sweetheart’s caregiver.

Karen and I had spoken often, prayed often and encouraged each other often, but until I witnessed it in person did I understand all that each day entails. But I “seized the moments” when I said “yes” to Karen’s call out for help, “I need you”! I witnessed it all and now Karen is my hero more than ever.

That was an example of “Seizing the Moments”. And, while seizing the moments to help relieve someone of their burdens and responsibilities as a beautiful way of servitude, it is also a way of living with no regrets. I don’t want to miss out on being a light in the life of someone who lives in darkness of any kind.

Seizing the moments is also about capturing “memory” moments. You’ll see me with my phone in hand — not so much to answer a call, but to be ready to “capture that moment” so that I “have no regrets” about that once-in-a-lifetime photo opportunity. That’s why you see photos of bluebonnets in the fields that I captured on my road trip. AND, bought the canvas picture of bluebonnets when I saw it a Buc-ees yesterday to doubly remember!

I love surprising my friends with photos that I’ve taken — especially when they had no idea I captured the moment for them. And rarely do I miss the opportunity to take up a friend’s invitation to go somewhere or do something with them.

Life is just too short not to be that breath of fresh air that someone needs so much. It’s easy to say: “I’m too tired or too busy to go there or to do that.” But then we realize the fun we missed, or the opportunity we missed to make a difference in our life and someone else’s life.

Are you seizing those moments, minutes, days of YOUR life? We are here at this place, and this moment of time, for a specific purpose that God gave for only us to fulfill. Let’s be done with just going with the flow and determine to live ALL IN! Let’s look for those moments in this day…..that are over-the-top outrageous, once-in-a-lifetime moments, so that tomorrow, we’ll look back and say, “I lived with no regrets and seized the moments!

Would you like to add one of your “seize the moments” to this blog? The moment you seized just may make the difference in someone’s desire to seize the moments in their days! I know it will in mine! 😃
