Short Term Pain = Long Term Gain

Day 138 of Photo Inspirations. Throwback Thursday is also Transformation Thursday — SHORT TERM PAIN = LONG TERM GAIN
#TBT This is a big deal day and weekend coming up.   My grandson, Payton Wallace, will have his 15th birthday.  Big Year.  Yes, for him, he’s already identified it as the year he’ll get his driving learners permit.  I’m so thankful I’m here in Texas to be a part of these special times.

This big day includes braces coming off.  Transformation from 5 years of painful adjustments on his braces. Often times, he couldn’t eat because it hurt so much.  Handling the jokes and name-calling “Brace Face”, “Metal Mouth”.  But Payton got it — SHORT TERM PAIN FOR LONG TERM GAIN.

And he got his glasses 5 years ago, too.  He’s already making big decisions for his life.   Choosing eye contacts is another big one.  And those didn’t come without pain either. Today was his third try at the Eye Doctor’s to get the contacts in.  Third time was the clencher.  The Eye Doctor’s Assistant came around the corner and shouted “SUCCESS — he was so determined!”  SHORT TERM PAIN FOR LONG TERM GAIN.

How soon many of us quit during the painful times.  We never achieve the goal or dream because we weren’t able to endure the pain OR the process.   I tried to get contacts,  but I never pushed through the pain or process.   The glasses restricted Payton from some athletic pursuits he has.  He was willing to submit to the pain AND the process.

Very simply put… short term GAIN means to do what’s easier now. Long term PAIN means that because we didn’t do what NEEDED to be done in the short term, our life will reflect that forever — as well as consistently thinking “If ONLY, I had persevered!”   SHORT TERM PAIN means to “Suck it up, Buttercup!” and do the thing that’s harder because we know that our life will be better and easier over the long haul because we made ourselves do the thing we didn’t want to do but we did!

I know that by now you’re thinking of your own examples of short term pain = long term gain and vice versa. This post will not bless you just by reading it, but it will do so when you think through your own life scenarios and begin to consciously choose short term pain = long term gain.

REMEMBER; SHORT TERM PAIN IS JUST THAT… SHORT TERM!!!   It is so worth it — for the LONG TERM GAIN that is LOOOOONG TERM!!! #Wallace64
