Welcome, February – the Love Month

Welcome, February – the Love Month

February 1, 2022 Off By Donna Wuerch

It’s the LOVE month and I am in the love mindset, as I have been for decades. I am always nostalgic this month. On February 14th, 1961, my boyfriend (and 5 years later, my groom), and I went on our first chaperoned date, chauffeured by his dad and mom to my church’s Valentine’s banquet. February has been the “Love Month” (not just the day) for me since, and though my sweetheart celebrates it in heaven, I enjoy celebrating it here on this side of heaven with those I hold dear.

You (and my neighbors) can see the love still oozing from me as I placed my little vignette at my doorway and shelf to start my love month rolling. The photos are of that first “official” date and four decades later, the same two carried on their lovefest. The little plaque reads “A True Love Story Never Ends”! I’m proving that true in more ways than just that one!

I am carrying on that lovefest with my children who were born out of that love story. And another chapter of my love story are the grandchildren who are the “cat’s meow” to me! According to thefreedictionary.com, “the cat’s meow” is defined as: “Something or someone highly enjoyable, desirable, or someone that’s considered wonderful or remarkable. Our equivalent modern-day words are “awesome and really great”!

I have some wonderful old-friend relationships and my dear, new friends who I do life with today. Yesterday, one of the gals and her crafty group invited all the women for tea and coffee as a celebration of this love month! Oh the benefits of love and friendship!

So, why not let this be a LOVE month with everyone we encounter? Love is as simple as smiling at someone walking toward us, in front or behind us in the checkout line or standing next to us in an elevator. We could make a commitment to give our love away in a phone call, a love letter, text message or email to those who inspire us, support us, assist us, care for us, love us, pray for us, protect us, laugh with us and cry with us. Let’s pour on the love this month!

I’m going to get the love “ball” rolling and make a shout out to my FB and blog friends and family by saying: “I LOVE YOU! You make my world a better place. You put a smile on my face, and you give me so many reasons to keep going strong! May you know God’s love in tangible and beautiful ways…not just this month, but always!”

I can’t end this blog just yet! The topper to any love story we could ever profess, is God’s Love Story that taught us what true love looks like. “For God SO LOVED the world that He gave His only begotten Son; that whoever believes in Him, will not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16) Don’t tell me you don’t have a love story, because you do! One that surpasses any other! Won’t you let Him love you with His overwhelming, never-ending love?

1 John 4:7 “Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.”
