You’re Not a Loser — You’re a Winner

You’re Not a Loser — You’re a Winner

I’ll admit it — I love reality talent shows. America’s Got Talent is one of my favorites. Ordinary people — all shapes, sizes, ages — step onto a stage, risk rejection, and dare to shine.

This season, one singer stopped me in my tracks: Jessica Sanchez, a radiant, very pregnant 30-year-old with a powerhouse voice and a contagious smile. But what moved me most was her backstory.

Jessica first auditioned at age 10 — and didn’t make it. She left feeling crushed, rejected, a “failure.” For twenty years she fought doubt, struggled to find her voice, battled discouragement… and then came back. Pregnant. Fighting hormones. Singing with a baby pressing against her diaphragm. And she won.

That’s grit. That’s courage. That’s refusing to let the voice of defeat have the last word.

Because let’s be honest — we all hear those voices.
“You’re too old.”
“You’ve failed before.”
“You’re weak.”
“Give up.”
“You’ll make a fool of yourself.”

Jesus named the source of those whispers: “When [the devil] lies, he speaks his native language… he is a liar and the father of lies.” (John 8:44). Every “you can’t” he throws your way is a neon sign pointing to what God says you can do.

Truth sounds different. Truth says:
“With God nothing is impossible.” (Luke 1:37)
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13)
“No weapon formed against you will prosper.” (Isaiah 54:17)

Your Creator didn’t design you to quit. You’re wired to persevere. Age doesn’t cancel your purpose. Past mistakes don’t void your calling. Broken dreams don’t mean the story’s over.

Jessica’s word for her journey was surrender — letting go of fear and leaning fully on God’s strength. That’s where the real winning begins: not in proving we’re enough, but in trusting that He is.

So if you’ve been tempted to wave the white flag, here’s your reminder: Don’t. Quit. Now. God’s not finished. His arm is strong. His Spirit fills you. The enemy says “loser,” but Heaven calls you beloved, bold, and more than a conqueror. (Romans 8:37)

Keep showing up — you’re not finished yet.
